here it comes...

Well today i am spending the day running around doing last minute Christmas shopping (which i did at 8am this morn!) cleaning by disaster of a house (for the in laws that will be here Christmas day after we have our Christmas with Jakes family up in Rockford earlier in the day)..baking cookies and muffins, which i havent started yet..oh and making my eclair pies! Im doing lotssss of laundry that needs to be done, bathing the dog (who is getting on my last fing nerves today!)..cleaning out my car for tomorrow..oh and EVERYONE DONT LET ME FORGET DADS CRAB LEGS THAT ARE IN MY FREEZERRRRRR!!!!

So here it comes...2 days of pure bliss/running around/exhaustion/headaches/family/eating all the junk you can shove in your mouth/smiles/happiness/did i mention exhaustion??

Im looking forward to Sat when i can lay on my couch all day and watch ralphie, eating my aunts krispies, and hit those after Christmas sales!

I need a nap!

Snow in London looks so much prettier than here..
I cant believe Christmas is going to be here sooo soon..im glad i got a lot of Christmas shopping done early this year! Im ready for a day off work..spending time with family..relaxing..and of course, after Christmas sales!!

Merry Christmas.

my letter to santa..

Dear Santa,

please send me to LONDON for Christmas!!!

29 November 2009

if it cost too much..do it yourself!

So i figured out what i want for Christmas..my horse print (oh and every vintage equestrian thing you can find on ebay!)..cept i found that the print was 1,900 DOLLARS..but i found out how to get it at a much more reasonable price...soooo excited!!!!

ill also take anything and everything in pottery barn..ha

I pretty much have all my Christmas shopping done..just have to finish a few things for a few people..and i even have it all wrapped!! Too bad i cant put any of it under the tree because Squibby likes to eat tissue paper/bows/ribbons/and anything else that will drive me nuts! I only have a few larger boxes under the tree, minus and bows/ribbons thanks to the damn cat! So i put up all the other gift on one of the stair banisters for his viewing pleasure..

We put up the outside lights, tree, and stockings..so were all set! I did put up a few other random decorations but this year im keeping it light, it already looks like a cluster f - so adding more crap annoys me.

OH and i managed to grab a few things out of my moms vintage/antique store..aka..her basement while visiting on thanksgiving..so some cool stuff, and ill be back at it again as soon as i can!

This week im working 8-5 allll week so thats pretty much all im going to be doing..hopefully next week i will have a few days off so i can go to my grams and clean her house (and dig in my moms 'store')..oh and pay bills, do the laundry, go grocery shopping, clean...clean..and clean some more...i really have no idea how 2 people and 2 animals can ruin a house in less than a day..drives me nuts!!~

going to finish watching Home for the Holidays..(rach i need this movie and love actually from you to burn! OH and those scrubs!!)

26 November 2009

gobble gobble...

Happy Thanksgiving!!

17 November 2009

artichokey artichokey artichokey

I just bought these..dont ask me why, i just wanted them - its a celebration gift for my new job?! If i had a million dollars i would probably buy everything in pottery barn! So now im trying to figure out how to make them look like the picture - ha! I tried putting them in my big white pedestal bowl i have but the bowl is too big..so now im on a hunt for a bowl/box like whats in the picture, another trip to homegoods tomorrow i guess (which i went to before pottery barn today already!)..so if you wanna know what i want for Christmas - HOMEGOODS AND POTTERY BARN gift cards! he...

What does everyone want from Santa for Christmas this year??

Heres my artichokes!! They look much cuter (if artichokes are cute..) in person..
I think im going to ask for another batch for Christmas! HA

04 October 2009

6 beauty products i cannot live without!

ok this is random but i thought i would do it since im bored and nothing is on tv!
this will be 6 beauty products i cant live without -

1.
Bare minerals makeup..pretty much the best makeup item ever! im not one for lots of foundation or cakey looking makeup so this is perfect. its minerals so its good for your skin...bit pricey but well worth it because you only need a little and it last a longgg time...i have fair and fairly light! (also have a few other things from the line which i love as well!)

2. My face loofah (is that a beauty product?!) well it is to me! i love these and no matter what cheap face wash i have it always leaves my skin soft..a must have!

3.
If i had to pick just ONE beauty thing..this is IT! its actually found at kohls! its called good skin all right mattifying gel..put it on under makeup, after a moisturizer..it leaves your oily skin, not oily! I put it on my 'T' zone and its pretty much the best thing ever..this and my bare minerals..im set!

4.
Blush! My cheapo cover girl blush..for someone who is as pale as me, blush makes me look...alive!

5.
My redken real control conditioner..with all the crap i did to my hair within the last 6 months this is the best conditioner and has really restored my hair..i have a few conditioners that are really good in my shower that i just kinda switch up everyday, but this is my fave!

6.

Since i gave up on doing my hair..let alone even brush it! (seriously, i dont comb my hair..only in the shower when im washing out my conditioner..or i guess when i blow dry/straighten my hair which is about once every six months!) i use this stuff...jonathan dirt..remember him on that stupid show blow out? (not stupid enough for me to watch it though!) Its a texturizing paste that gives you that 'bed head' look..i pretty much just let my naturally wavy hair do what it wants these days..which means i pretty much look like i just stepped off the beach or just woke up, take your pick! I just rub a little through my wet/dry hair and it gives me that messy/bohemian look i like these days (i also like bed head after party smoothing cream and bead head manipulator texture/fiber cream that i use with my DIRT!)

03 October 2009

silver and gold..silver and gold..or just, silver!

Not only am i taking vitamin D-3 to help keep me healthy during this odd cold/flu season..ive done research on a new product..colloidal silver, heard of it??

http://www.greatestherbsonearth.com/nsparticles/colloidal_silver.htm

jake heard about it on some podcast he listens to (on his ipod)...from the same doctors that turned him on to D-3..its a very interesting homeopathic way of keeping healthy!

check out the link..i found lots of sites on it for dosage and other benefits you get when taking it...what do you think??

Gonna go pick some up tomorrow..went today to get my 5,000 IUs of vitamin D-3 and jake showed my the silver..said i would go home and research about it before buying it, and from what ive read, i want it!!

30 September 2009

WHAT E V E R!

One of the best shows ever! i just laughed my butt off watching this show..for those of you who have never heard of it, its called Whatever, Martha..and its with martha stewards daughter and her friend who watch shows of martha and comment...it is sooooo funny!
I was just watching it and they were watching martha on her show go to a tag sale..and martha says 'oh i want it all' while looking at some crap..and her daughter, alexis says 'yeah thats not the first time shes said that'...
maybe its just me..or the love i have for martha..but thats some funny shit!

projects

Ok..so my newest home project is something like this..

Since we dont have a headboard for our bed yet and thanks to flipping through a pottery barn magazine i found an idea! They just had a large frame in a bedroom with either fabric/wallpaper in it..i was like perfect! ill make one and hang it above our bed, like a faux headboard..just not as huge as the one in the picture! (which i do really like!)
Im just using a 2 foot by 3 foot frame that i found for 6 bucks at a salvation army, painted it white since it was of course an ugly gold color. Well let me tell you, finding fabric or wallpaper to frame is almost impossible!!! I have been everywhere (lowes, menards, home depot, homegoods, hobby lobby, joanns, crate and barrel outlet..etc!) and havent found anything yet! i found one fabric at joanns but i thought the print was way too small..(it would be nice if i could find whats framed in this damn picture!) and i found some wallpaper at menards..which i took about 40 square samples of to see if i could group them all together in some odd way..well..didnt have enough..and since i took ALL the samples ill have to wait to see if they ever put more out! I grouped all the ones i had and i still dont think theyll work..its just a plain white wallpaper with some stripes that are kind of pearl white..very pretty but i wanted more than just whites..maybe a mix of browns, taupe, and whites..so anyways, im almost calling this project a bust because i dont know where else to look! So im going to keep looking around on the net and see what i can find..what a mess...

ps jake has his st charles interview today! and he has the dupage county interview late oct...and i just found that yorkville and kane county are taking applications which he will be doing too!

-

- waiting to hear back from a psychologist office in naperville..playing phone tag..i have got to get something a s a p.

- what a
gloomy day outside..which has put me in a gloomy mood. *not little miss sunshine today.

- on the bright side, ulta has eyeliner on sale for 2 dollars from 8, gonna go pick me up one tomorrow.

- i cant stand my cat today...im thinking about cutting his hair in between his feet because i think its the reason why cat liter ends up in places it should never be..like my coffee table.
and im sick of him eating the dog food instead of his own..and next time he wrestles around with another plastic bag i will strangle him with it.

- jake
f i n a l l y got a call from dupage..he has an interview Oct 22. if he doesnt get a police job like yesterday i think i am going to go insane and instead of working at a psychologist office, i will be a patient of one.

- im pretty much obsessed with these bird nests i got at a store in sandwich with my mom..i have 3 now..this whole 'if i like something i have to have double of it if not multiple of it' is getting a little ocd.

- i could really go for some mac n cheese from cracker barrel. thats like sunlight in a bowl. instead im sure ill be eating cereal or something just as lame for dinner.

- i just got really dizzy for some reason, hope its not vertigo.

- im going to make sure i pray e v e r y night until jakes interview with dupage and it will go something like this: 'please god let jake get this dupage job, pretty please god let jake get this dupage job'.
join me, please.

- oh yeah, i want to go to
london.**

my husband = against flu/swine flu shots..

This is for my husband who has now turned me on to D3..i have been doing a lot of research and i have read a lot about vitamin D3..everywhere i look people are saying take 5-10,000 IUs of D3 a day..especially in the fall/winter months..and you can lower if you want in spring/summer..AND if you feel like you are catching something (cold, flu..etc) that you can take 50,000 IUs for a few days to help kill the virus..interesting?!?? I would say so..so i will keep reading about it and use my best judgment from there..

will i not get the flu/swine flu shots and just take D3? I have no idea..

am i now taking 5-10,000 IUs of D3 now? yes i am..from what i read, it cant hurt!

Swine Flu and Vitamin D3

Every news outlet in the country is talking about the swine flu, and its threat of a pandemic. While the authorities scramble to identify and contain the threat, the public is wondering what responses they should consider. First off, don’t panic! Panic causes people to say and do really stupid and dangerous things.

Second, consider the contact you and your associates have with individuals who may be at risk, due to their own associate circle and recent travel. If you show flu symptoms, take immediate precautions and see your medical provider right away, with a recent trip/contact diary in-hand.

Third, consider supporting your first and best line medical defense, by feeding your immune system what it needs to work properly, Vitamin D3. A daily dose of 5-10,000 IUs of D3 will boost your body’s production of antimicrobial peptides shown to kill the influenza virus. D3 also helps the immune system avoid cytokine ‘overload’, whereby our immune systems overreacts to a pathogen or antagonist, congesting the lungs. Don’t worry about drug interactions or overdose with D3, as we normally produce up to 30,000 IUs of D3 during a sunbathing hour at the beach.

Lastly, be particularly watchful of children and older adults, or anyone else with weak or weakened immune system. Again, contact a qualified medical professional if you suspect you have the flu. Do not wait!

So do a little research yourself..

want want want #1

Round Coffee Table (Pottery Barn)
http://www.potterybarn.com/products/metropolitan-round-coffee-table/?pkey=ccoffee-tables
Anyone wanna get me this for Christmas?! Its on sale from 349 to only 299!! ha..

speaking of pottery barn..a few of my favorite things in my home are from them..
These vase sleeves! I have the two mossy ones on the top and one tall birch bark one..the mossy ones i got last year for Christmas from the in laws and the birch one i found after Christmas on the bottom of a sales shelf, which i think i got for like 4 dollars! They stopped carrying them sometime after the holidays last year..wonder if they will bring these back!?
And my other favorite - those darn trunk candles!i dont know why, but when i saw these..i had to have them! Another gift from Christmas last year also..i have two medium ones and one small..love them! It looks like they brought these back too..i know that they sold out pretty fast last year..and i noticed when they brought them back, they also raised the price on these bad boys - a lot! They arent on the website right now, but i did see them in the stores this week..and i think they were on sale.

pillowzzzz

While looking for pillow covers for my new pillows my mom got me at pottery barn a few days ago while we were up at my sisters i decided to run to home goods and crate and barrel outlet - holy cow!
Home goods did have a semi good selection of pillow cases/shams but i think i only saw one square pillow cover (and it was even bigger than what im looking for, 20"x20")..i did find two shams, one standard and one king size..looovvveee them, and i got them on clearance!

Crate and barrel outlet had a million, and i mean a million pillow cases/shams, duvets, coverlets, window panels, blankets..etc..on final sale! I had to have been there for a good 45 min just picking through everything! I am so peeved at myself for putting back a coverlet because 2 min after i put it down i went to go look at it again and i saw some lady took it..i literally followed her till she checked out just in case she would put it back down..it was 35 bucks and from what im seeing online the damn thing was like over 200 dollars! I wanted to to cut it up and use it to cover my big pillows on the back of my couch! Ill definitely be hitting that store more often for a while..good thing im 2 min down the road from it! I did walk away with a few pillow cases and a few shams..for a DOLLAR each i couldnt resist! Still didnt find any 20" cases i liked, and they only had a few randoms in the final sale bins..bummer..so i walked away only spending 5 dollars! I cant believe i put that damn coverlet down...grr

*painted the master bedroom dresser..love it! have to get sandpaper to sand the holes that i patched on the drawers and plan on painting them this weekend..need to save up money for the pulls i want! Maybe a good Christmas idea...

14 September 2009

thought for the day: i need a nap

finally starting to feel better..not quite 100% but close! Good enough to get my flu shot tomorrow i think...

i have a few things to add to my IN list:

LONDONNNNNNNN!! How could i forget?! I am still obsessing about going and pretty much every time i daydream i pretend i live there! i wanna gooooo..waaaaa!!

And just about the best ever...TAFFY!!! My aunt got me the famous taffy at the sandwich fair and i ate probably half the bag in less than 10 minutes..its just so good (and pretty much the only reason i go to the fair these days)! Thank you Aunt Mary for my taffy!!!!

11 September 2009

eh...ahhh..yay...eh..

YAY
jake got a letter from st charles today for an interview..they are only interviewing the top 20 first and hes one of em!

same for sycamore..he has an interview with them next monday and he said he heard from the chief of police at the orientation that theyll be interviewing the top 20 only...so hes in the top 20 again!

still not holding my breath because wed be dead at this point if we did...but its hard not to get excited when something comes up since its pretty few and far between..this hurry up and wait bs is getting old!

still waiting for stupid dupage county for an interview..and dekalb county (they sure took his application and money fast in late J U L Y and still have not heard when testing is..idiots!)

10 September 2009

In and Out #1

Thought i might do one of these each month/week..pretty much like an update on my life or things i hate/love..

-IN-

my cat..i love him sooo much..ive always loved a dog more than i loved a cat..so its a little odd...hes just to darn cute! Im finally understanding the weird obsession my mother has with her dog gizmo (which used to be half mine until she bought me out! I was like 20, broke, and wanted new clothes..so i said take the dog!)

FALL! Im so glad fall is (or was) in the air...these past couple of days have been feeling more like summer but im hoping it goes back to the fall weather i love so dearly...

Texas?!?? My uncle and aunt want to go on a vacation..but they have dogs and need someone to watch them..so he asked if we could! Well see what happens though - Jake and i have never been on a vacation together yet so it would be nice..cant say yes for sure yet since it depends on what cop stuff jake has and if i get/have a job or not..a vacation sounds great and all but there is NO WAY (no really, NO WAY!) i can pass on a job since ive been out of one since july...maybe i can get a flexible one?!

my wedding rings - my band is now white/silver instead of goldish..long story short..its fixed and now i can wear my rings without bitching!

Halloween window clings...i really have like no holiday decor (waa waaa) so since i have like one fall leaf patterned kitchen towel i thought what the heck..and stuck some happy halloween pumpkins all over our windows..i know its a little early but who cares..its all ive got!

oh and Vitamin C of course...and now D thanks to jake...along with my multi and nexium..im full of pills!

OH and vicks vapor inhaler..if youve never had one, get one..it pretty much the only thing that saved me from killing myself when i couldnt breathe out of my nose.

-OUT-

being sick! ive had some sort of allergy/sinus/cold thingy for a week now..today im starting to feel better..but i dont want to jinx it..hopefully these next few days i can kick it out of my system!

being jobless...its getting ridiculous now..im pretty sure if i dont get a job by october we will be living on the streets eating peoples pumpkin decorations since we will have no food..of course..

being broke..having no money..bills..and dirty dishes..those are ALWAYS O U T!

08 September 2009

AHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHH AHHHHH AAAH

STILL sick and about to shoot myself in the face to end it...
dont know if its allergies or sinuses..or a combo of both..itch ears and throat is gone...dry throat is gone..not i just cant breathe and have a lot of sinus congestion! Trying to avoid going to the drs since im b r o k e...so well see how long this crap lasts..ive felt like poop since thursday night so this is getting OLD!!!! Nothing like spending the long labor day weekend sick..just my LUCK!

04 September 2009

POSTpartum..NASAL DRIP

Im feeling a bit fragile today..last night a severe dry throat attacked me all of a sudden before bed and pretty much ruined my sleep..felt like i was choking for the better part of the night, which is always fun.
Woke up this morning with still, a dry throat..and maybe swollen tonsils to add to the fun..im thinking sinuses/post nasal drip is the killer!

hoping it all disappears before we leave for the quad cities or this might just end up being a miserable few days..

on to drinking plenty of green tea and water

31 August 2009

my kitty is an actual breed!!

Squibby:Not Squibby:
One thing you should know about me is:
Im pretty much obsessed with my cat! I always thought i was more of a dog person even though ive lived in a house with 7 cats..i always proffered my Collie, Collin..

But...ever since i moved out of my parents and moved with my husband and his dog..that came with him (which literally took me like a year or more to ever feel like he was actually my dog too) i felt like i wanted
my own pet..and the husband agreed on letting me get a cat since we thought it would be easier than having 2 dogs. Well i got Squibby (Jake picked his name out..it was either Meeks or Squibby..) and i have been obsessed with him ever since!

My point..he was found in a baseball field by himself (adopted him from the vet) and so i never knew what
breed he was..nor did i really think he was any breed since just about 99% of cats you see, are mixed..unless you actually breed or show cats..wellllllll...i decided to look up literally..gray, white, siamese mix cat..and looked at google images and saw cats that look EXACTLY like him! Some are short hair..most are long hair like him..and they even have his 'dirt' make on his nose that i just thought was from being a mix! So doing a little research i found out that he is a Lynx Point Birman! I guess the true breed is Birman. But ive noticed that there are different varieties such as..Lynx Point Siberian, Lynx Point Siamese, and Lynx Point Birman,..oh and even Lynx Point Ragdoll! Not sure the difference or what it all means..but all i know is he looks EXACTLY like them!! I guess the 'color points' can come in different colors...seal, lilac, chocolate, blue, flame, lynx, and tortie..from what ive seen he would be a Seal Lynx Point Birman.

BIRMAN

The Birman has the colourpoint pattern with the addition of white bootees/gauntlets. The Birman arrived in Europe around 1920 and has also been known as the Tibetan Temple Cat and the Sacred Cat of Burma. Modern Birmans are descended from a pair brought to Europe by Mr. Vanderbilt. It is also reported that 2 Englishmen, Major Gordon-Russell and August Pavie, then living in France, received a pair of Birmans from the Kittah people in 1919 as gratitude for their part in saving the temple from being overrun by invaders. The remainder of the tale is the same: the male unfortunately died during the voyage, but the female was pregnant. Of her kittens, only a female survived. This meant two female Birmans and no male. To re-establish the type, these cats were crossed to Siamese, Colourpoints and White Longhairs.

In 1927, judge Mrs Basnett reported on the Paris Cat Show held on 14th and 15th of January by the Cat Club de France and wrote "The Sacred Burmese Temple Cats interested me very much, with their long fur on the tail and coat resembling that of a poorly bred Persian; their colouring is exactly like that of the Siamese, but their feet sometimes have white toes. I was given to understand that they are very difficult to rear, only about one in ten survive. I do not think they possess the same quick movements as the Siamese, life to them seems much more dreamy and slow, but they are very loving and intelligent." This clearly referred to the Birman; confusingly the name Burmese Temple Cat was also used at that time for the gold-eyed brown Thai cats analogous to modern Burmese or brown Orientals.

As a result of its early near-loss and re-creation, some say the Birman comes from temples in Burma, while others claim it is a breed entirely manufactured in France using Siamese andblack-and-white longhairs. French breeders had to re-create the Birman not once, but twice since the Second World War caused pedigreed cats in Europe a great set back. Only two purebred Birmans survived and their offspring formed the new post-war foundation of the Birman breed in France. They were bred with other longhairs out of necessity, but by 1955, the Birman was once more recognised as pure bred and there was no more outcrossing. In the early 1960's Mrs Elsie Fisher and Mrs M. Richards imported the first Birmans into Britain from France.

While some claim the cats were created in France, it is interesting that in 1960, a pair of "Tibetan Temple kittens" was given to a North American cat lover and were identical to the Birman cats being bred in Europe. In recent years new point colours have been introduced, including chocolate, lilac point, red, cream, tabby and tortie point. Not all societies recognise the newer colours.

Birman variants are known e.g. the "Khmer" being a bootee-less Birman-type cat and the Tibetan being a Birman in solids colours and tabbies. Some of the early Birmans lacked the gauntlets.
